{"id":40368,"date":"2026-07-23T07:43:18","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T05:43:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=40368"},"modified":"2026-07-23T07:43:18","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T05:43:18","slug":"caf-president-confident-2027-cup-of-nations-will-be-successful","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/caf-president-confident-2027-cup-of-nations-will-be-successful\/","title":{"rendered":"CAF President confident 2027 Cup of Nations will be successful"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Next year\u2019s Africa Cup of Nations finals face challenges, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) President Patrice Motsepe \u200bsaid on Wednesday but predicted the event that will \u200cbe co-hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda will be an \u201cenormous success\u201d.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Motsepe did not specify the challenges, but the building of stadiums in \u200bKenya has caused concern over the last few years.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Government \u200bofficials said in May that the new 60 000 seat Talanta \u2060Sports City stadium in Nairobi and renovations to the \u200b48 000-capacity Moi International Sports Centre were on track.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\u201cWe have to \u200bhave confidence in our people despite the challenges and sometimes there will be failures, but we have to get up and go again,\u201d \u200bMotsepe told a press conference in Johannesburg.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">\u201cBut the Cup of \u200bNations in East Africa will be an enormous success.
