{"id":41399,"date":"2026-08-03T10:54:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-03T08:54:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=41399"},"modified":"2026-08-03T11:09:03","modified_gmt":"2026-08-03T09:09:03","slug":"final-voter-registration-weekend-in-sa-was-a-success-iec","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/final-voter-registration-weekend-in-sa-was-a-success-iec\/","title":{"rendered":"Final voter registration weekend in SA was a success: IEC"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"auto\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">The Electoral Commission (IEC) in South Africa (SA) says the final voter registration weekend was a success, with strong logistical and operational performance across the country.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\" data-ogsc=\"rgb(0, 0, 0)\">\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">This comes as SA concludes its final voter registration drive ahead of the upcoming elections.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">The IEC says the campaign aims to get as many eligible citizens as possible onto the voters\u2019 roll.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">IEC Chief Electoral Officer, Sy Mamabolo, says citizens can still register or update their details online and at local IEC offices <span dir=\"ltr\">until midnight<\/span> on the day the election date is officially proclaimed.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"auto\">\u201cWe\u2019re quite happy with the overall performance of the system in relation to the logistical arrangements and the human capital that was working. In terms of the quantitative yield of registration, we are finalising our analysis of the data.
