The United States (US) is temporarily restricting travel for certain passengers who recently visited Uganda, South Sudan and the \u200bDemocratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in an effort to \u200creduce the risk of Ebola transmission.<\/p>\n
The measures are a part of US public health protocols for travelers arriving from areas affected by \u200bEbola.<\/p>\n
US citizens and US nationals \u200bwho have been present in Uganda or South \u2060Sudan (and not present in DRC) within 21 days \u200bbefore arrival in the US will have their air travel \u200brouted through designated US airports for public health entry screening, Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines said on Friday.<\/p>\n
The requirement applies even to passengers who only \u200btransited through Uganda or South Sudan on a \u200bconnecting flight, the CDC and Prevention said.<\/p>\n
The agency said \u200ctravelers, \u2060including US citizens and US nationals, who have been in DRC within 21 days before departure would not be allowed to board commercial flights with US destinations.<\/p>\n
Those \u200btravelers should remain \u200boutside the \u2060US until 21 days have passed since they left DRC, it said.<\/p>\n
Travelers who have \u200bbeen in Ebola outbreak-affected provinces in DRC \u200bmay \u2060face additional travel requirements imposed by local authorities before they are permitted to leave the country, according to CDC.<\/p>\n
If \u2060Ebola is \u200bsuspected, patients will be transferred \u200bto a hospital for medical evaluation, isolation and care.<\/p>\n
