The situation reflects a broader crisis across Sub-Saharan Africa, where limited access to routine screening, early diagnosis, and timely treatment continues to drive high mortality rates among women.

In response, Mozambican health authorities, in partnership with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and international health partners, are scaling up preventative measures. The collaborative initiative focuses on expanding human papillomavirus vaccination coverage, widening access to early screening, and improving treatment pathways, with the goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health threat by 2030.

Dr Cezaltina Lorenzoni, President of the African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer , highlighted the urgent need for sustained regional investment and community awareness to bridge the care gap and reduce preventable deaths across the continent.

–ChannelAfrica–

[78,26
post-41953","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-featured","news-type-general_news","entry
["GET
