The WBG said the financing will support the development of more competitive and climate-resilient poultry and aquaculture sectors in Congo.<\/p>\n

The project will improve access to affordable, quality agricultural inputs, including animal feed, fingerlings and day-old chicks. Support will also be provided for skills development, technical capacity and productive infrastructure in selected Protected Agricultural Zones.<\/p>\n

World Bank Division Director for the Republic of Congo Cheick F Kant\u00e9 said the two sectors could contribute to employment, economic diversification and stronger food systems. \u201cUnlocking the potential of poultry and aquaculture can help Congo create more jobs, improve food and nutrition security, and build a more diversified and resilient economy,\u201d Kant\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n

Kant\u00e9 said the project combines public investment, private-sector participation, training and climate-smart interventions to help local producers expand and become more competitive. \u201cThis project brings together public investment, private sector engagement, skills development, and climate-smart solutions to help local producers compete and grow,\u201d Kant\u00e9 said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The project will support climate-resilient infrastructure to strengthen production and reduce vulnerability to climate-related disruptions.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
WBG said reforms will also be introduced to improve the policy and regulatory environment for private-sector participation in poultry and aquaculture.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The initiative will seek to expand access to finance for farmers and private investors while mobilising additional private capital for productive investments.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Strengthening domestic production could help Congo reduce dependence on imported food, improve the availability of nutritious products and create opportunities across agricultural supply chains.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The project is expected to generate employment for farmers, entrepreneurs, processors, traders and service providers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Women and young people will receive particular attention as the initiative seeks to expand access to productive assets, technical skills, finance and business opportunities.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
By connecting public investment with private-sector participation, the project is expected to strengthen local agricultural value chains and support a more diversified economy.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
WBG said expanding poultry and aquaculture production could improve food and nutrition security while helping local producers build commercially sustainable businesses.<\/p>\n
