The transfer follows an agreement between FC Copenhagen and Mamelodi Sundowns, ending months of speculation over Maseko’s future after limited opportunities at Chloorkop.<\/p>\n

Maseko’s agent, Glyn Binkin, confirmed that the SA international would travel to Denmark in the coming days to complete the deal. “In the coming days, Thapelo will travel to Denmark to finalise the next chapter of his football career by signing with FC Copenhagen,” Binkin said.<\/p>\n

Binkin revealed that former Bafana Bafana forward Sibusiso Zuma played an important role in facilitating the move. “A club I think is synonymous with South African football, especially because of Sibusiso Zuma, who also played an influential role in this opportunity for Thapelo,” Binkin said.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The move represents a major opportunity for Maseko to establish a career in Europe after joining Sundowns from SuperSport United in July 2023.<\/p>\n

Despite arriving as one of the country’s most promising young talents, Maseko struggled to cement a regular place in the Sundowns starting line-up amid intense competition for places.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Binkin described the transfer as an important step in Maseko’s development both on and off the field. “It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity for him to pursue his dreams of playing in Europe and to continue developing both as a footballer and as a young man,” Binkin said.<\/p>\n

Binkin also thanked the Sundowns leadership for supporting the move. “On behalf of Thapelo and his family, I would like to express our sincere gratitude in particular to the president of Mamelodi Sundowns, Dr Patrice Motsepe,” Binkin said.<\/p>\n

Binkin praised Motsepe’s relationship with the player and acknowledged the role played by club officials in helping complete the transfer.<\/p>\n

“The Chairperson, Tlhopie Motsepe, the Sporting Director, Flemming Berg and the club’s management for the assistance and the standing in support in allowing Maseko to follow his dreams,” Binkin said.<\/p>\n

Although Maseko’s three-year spell at Sundowns proved challenging at times, the winger leaves having developed under one of Africa’s leading clubs and with experience at both domestic and international level.<\/p>\n
