{"id":43149,"date":"2026-08-19T14:58:47","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T12:58:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=43149"},"modified":"2026-08-19T14:58:47","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T12:58:47","slug":"sas-julys-inflation-declined-to-4-3","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sas-julys-inflation-declined-to-4-3\/","title":{"rendered":"SA&#8217;s July\u2019s inflation declined to 4.3%"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest data from Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) shows that inflation has cooled from 5% in June to 4.3 % in July.<\/p>\n<p>The main contributors to inflation in the period came from housing, transport, and insurance.<\/p>\n<p>The monthly increase in the consumer price index (CPI) was 0.2%, down from 0.7% in June.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, Stats SA says the slowdown can be attributed to softer inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages (NAB), lower municipal tariff increases and a decline in fuel prices.<\/p>\n<p>It says the annual rate for food and NAB declined to 0,9% in July. This is the lowest print for food and NAB in more than 16 years, since June 2010 when it was 0,7%.
