Patients travelled from as far as Gweru and Marondera, journeys spanning up to 300 kilometres, highlighting the severe financial barriers and regional gaps in specialized oncology care across the country.

The outreach provided free health consultations, specialised screenings, and clinical assessments designed to catch malignancies early, when treatment is most effective.

“It’s heartening to know that there are some people who came as far as from Gweru and Marondera for this outreach, which means this is something that is absolutely necessary,” said leading Oncologist Dr Anna-Mary Nyakabau, founder and Chief Executive of CancerServe Zimbabwe. “So far we can afford to do this at least once a year. However, if resources permit, we would like to do it more often.”

To ensure patients identified with advanced conditions receive long-term care, a team of surgeons led by Specialist will conduct follow-up visits to Karanda Mission Hospital to perform necessary surgical interventions on referred patients.

–ChannelAfrica–

[78,26
post-43591","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-featured","news-type-general_news","entry
["GET
