Morgan Rogers marked his competitive debut for Chelsea with a goal in Monday’s 3-2 Premier League victory \u200bover Fulham and while the forward was \u200cpleased with his performance he said he has still to hit top gear.<\/p>\n
Chelsea paid a British record \u00a3117 million ($159.51 million) fee to \u200bsign Rogers from Aston Villa last month \u200band he did not take long to show \u2060what he is capable of, netting their second \u200bgoal with a side-footed effort at Craven Cottage.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old combined \u200bwell with fellow attackers Cole Palmer and Joao Pedro before being substituted by manager Xabi Alonso with about 10 minutes left.<\/p>\n
“I \u200bdidn’t feel that sharp towards the end, I \u200bwas a bit tired and that’s why I came off \u200cfor \u2060the last 10 minutes,” Rogers told Chelsea’s website.<\/p>\n
“Coming to a new team, you don’t want to come in sluggish and off the pace, so I tried \u200bto keep myself \u200bin the \u2060best shape as possible and I’ve tried to get up to speed as \u200bquickly as I can.<\/p>\n
“I still think there \u200bare \u2060more gears to go, and I’ve got to try and find them as quickly as possible because the \u2060games \u200bare coming thick and fast.”
\nChelsea \u200bnext face Luton Town in the League Cup on Thursday.<\/p>\n
