{"id":43803,"date":"2026-08-26T12:04:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-26T10:04:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=43803"},"modified":"2026-08-26T12:04:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-26T10:04:16","slug":"kenya-airways-to-reveal-potential-new-investors-as-losses-deepen","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/kenya-airways-to-reveal-potential-new-investors-as-losses-deepen\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya Airways to reveal potential new investors as losses deepen"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Kenya Airways will disclose details of potential new investors within weeks, its Chairperson said, as the loss-making carrier seeks fresh capital to \u200bease debt pressure, restore grounded aircraft and fund its turnaround plan.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">&#8220;We \u200chave received interests from local and international investors who will inject both capital and other resources into KQ,&#8221; Chairman Kiprono Kittony told reporters on Tuesday.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">The planned announcement comes as \u200bthe airline confronts soaring fuel costs, aircraft maintenance delays and a \u200bshortage of spare parts, which have constrained capacity despite strong passenger \u2060demand.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">Kenya Airways reported a pre-tax loss of $123 million for \u200bthe first half of 2026, compared with a loss of billions of Shillings \u200bin the same period last year.<\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"x_elementToProof\">On Wednesday last week, the carrier said fuel costs had risen 72% in the first half of 2026 due to the Middle East conflict, with \u200bfuel accounting for as much as half of its total costs.
