Meta has denied all allegations of wrongdoing.

Responding to the settlement, Amnesty International United States Deputy Director of Research Justin Mazzola welcomed the proposed design updates but warned that further systemic changes are required.

“The settlement is a turning point not just for Meta, but all social media,” Mazzola said. “Social media platforms must now change how they operate and fix their harmful features to protect children and young people. Child safety must be built into platforms from the start, not added as an afterthought once harms are identified.”

Mazzola added that while the agreement sends a clear signal to technology firms, platforms should go further by turning off hyper-personalised recommendation algorithms by default for minor users.

–ChannelAfrica/AmnestyInternational —

[44
post-44141","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-finance","entry
["GET
