To address the shortfall, researchers are advocating for a structured “task-sharing” framework, training non-specialists and primary healthcare workers to administer validated screening tools such as the Patient Health Questionnaire and the Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale.

Othieno stressed that supporting young mothers requires a multi-agency approach involving families, teachers, and community members to combat stigmatization and assist adolescents in returning to school. However, scaling up these interventions sustainably will require dedicated policy frameworks, fair compensation for healthcare workers, and stronger research into the long-term economic benefits of treating mental health disorders across the continent.

–ChannelAfrica–

[26
post-46034","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-general_news","entry
["GET
