An independent commission has reportedly found Manchester City guilty on 114 of 115 alleged breaches of the Premier League financial rules following an extensive multi-year investigation, according to reports published on Friday.<\/p>\n

The charges follow a four-year investigation formally launched in February 2023, covering financial dealings between 2009 and 2018. The Premier League alleged that the club failed to provide accurate financial information to give a true and fair view of its financial standing, specifically accusing City of disguising direct ownership equity from Sheikh Mansour\u2019s Abu Dhabi United Group as independent sponsorship revenue from state-backed firms like Etihad and Etisalat. Additionally, the findings cover off-the-books remuneration paid to managers, including former manager Roberto Mancini, and players through hidden secondary consultancy contracts, as well as failure to co-operate with league investigators and failure to comply with UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.<\/p>\n

While potential penalties range from massive fines and heavy points deductions to expulsion from the league or the stripping of up to nine domestic titles won during that timeframe, the independent panel has not yet announced any official sanctions.<\/p>\n

Reacting to the development, a Manchester City Spokesperson maintained that the process remains ongoing and subject to strict confidentiality rules, pointing out that the club has respected due process for eight years and intends to exhaust all legal appeals once the written judgment and sanctions are formally delivered.<\/p>\n
