Several other crew members were seriously injured. \u201cI am deeply saddened to learn of the tragic loss of five seafarers during the rescue of the HONOUR 25,\u201d International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI offer my heartfelt condolences to their families, friends and fellow crew members.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dominguez called on those responsible for the crew\u2019s welfare to ensure that injured seafarers received medical treatment and support while recovering from the ordeal.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The IMO said the remaining crew aboard HONOUR 25 had been freed, alongside those held on SEAMULL and EUREKA. \u201cI thank the Government of Somalia for efforts in securing their release,\u201d Dominguez said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The respective governments are working with shipowners and relevant authorities to arrange the repatriation of the 44 freed seafarers.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, 22 seafarers remain in captivity aboard ASANA, which was seized earlier in 2026. \u201cEvery effort must continue to secure their safe release,\u201d Dominguez said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dominguez called for renewed international cooperation and sufficient resources to prevent piracy and protect crews travelling through the region. \u201cWe have come together to stop piracy in this region before.
