{"id":47404,"date":"2026-10-06T15:57:50","date_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:57:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=47404"},"modified":"2026-10-06T15:57:50","modified_gmt":"2026-10-06T13:57:50","slug":"sa-welcomes-african-commission-preliminary-report-on-migration-human-rights","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/sa-welcomes-african-commission-preliminary-report-on-migration-human-rights\/","title":{"rendered":"SA welcomes African Commission preliminary report on migration, human rights \u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African (SA) government has welcomed the preliminary findings released by the African Commission on Human and Peoples&#8217; Rights following its recent fact-finding mission on human rights and migration.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the Department of International Relations and Co-operation, the Commission commended SA\u2019s robust constitutional frame and legal protections aimed at safeguarding refugees, asylum seekers, and other vulnerable migratory groups.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, the Commission\u2019s report highlighted pressing domestic socio-economic challenges, citing persistent concerns over undocumented migration, high levels of crime, poverty, unemployment, and systemic gender-based violence and femicide.
