The preliminary display of the voter register for public verification is scheduled to run from October 9 to 15, 2026.

To streamline voter participation ahead of the 2027 general polls, INEC announced that nationwide collection of newly produced Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) will commence on Friday, October 9, utilising new printable PVC technology designed to eliminate distribution bottlenecks.

Addressing electoral technology upgrades, Amupitan confirmed the commission has procured 57 000 new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices and enhanced the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal. Polling unit results will now feature digital authentication through an upgraded eEC8A form before being uploaded online, while integrated artificial intelligence systems will monitor database security and flag operational anomalies.

In a bid to curb financial inducement during campaigns, INEC is partnering with anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit to track illegal campaign expenditure. Violators of the Electoral Act face immediate arrest and prosecution.

Amupitan also cautioned against the threat of deepfakes, artificial intelligence manipulated media, and misinformation aimed at eroding voter confidence, calling on news editors to rigorously fact-check reports before publication.

–ChannelAfrica–

[78,26
post-47409","news","type-news","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","news-type-featured","news-type-general_news","entry
["GET
