Nearly 3 800 people have fled to Djibouti. “The situation is evolving into a complex emergency, with health needs rising as resources are already severely stretched,” WHO Representative in Yemen Dr Syed Jaffar Hussain said.

Yemeni health authorities reported 959 deaths and 4 207 injuries across 10 governorates by October 2.

Fighting has intensified in Lahj near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, neighbouring Taiz and the northern governorate of Marib.

Nearly half of the health facilities in conflict-affected areas lack support from humanitarian partners.
