{"id":48862,"date":"2026-10-23T13:14:05","date_gmt":"2026-10-23T11:14:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=48862"},"modified":"2026-10-23T13:15:04","modified_gmt":"2026-10-23T11:15:04","slug":"kaax-slams-foreign-nationals-murder-in-sa-province","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/kaax-slams-foreign-nationals-murder-in-sa-province\/","title":{"rendered":"KAAX slams foreign national\u2019s murder in SA province"},"content":{"rendered":"<div dir=\"ltr\"><span style=\"font-family: var(--global--font-secondary); font-size: var(--global--font-size-base);\">Civil society organisation Kopanang Africa Against Xenophobia (KAAX) has condemned the killing of a foreign national in Durban, Kwa Zulu Natal province.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div id=\"ms-outlook-mobile-signature\">\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>The man, believed to be in his late 30s, was allegedly beaten to death by a group of about 50 people in the Durban on Thursday.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>Police say the group was part of a larger group of protesters marching against illegal immigration.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>KAAX Spokesperson Dr. Dale McKinley has called on police to arrest those responsible.<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>McKinley says, \u201cThe police must do their job; a criminal act is a criminal act irrespective of who\u2019s involved, also to ensure that when these mobilisations take place, the police are there.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>\u201cThey don\u2019t seem to ever be where they need to be, and then they say they were overwhelmed, or they didn\u2019t know, and I think the reality is that we know that our police are weak, in many cases in terms of their enforcement of the law.\u201d<\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div>He adds, \u201cThey need to pull their socks up and do what they\u2019re supposed to do, do what they\u2019re hired to do, and do so without fear or favour.
