{"id":50075,"date":"2026-11-05T13:49:28","date_gmt":"2026-11-05T11:49:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/?post_type=news&#038;p=50075"},"modified":"2026-11-05T13:50:10","modified_gmt":"2026-11-05T11:50:10","slug":"50075","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.channelafrica.co.za\/channelafrica\/news\/50075\/","title":{"rendered":"SA&#8217;s IEC warns citizens against sharing of unverified elections results"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of South Africa (SA) has called on political parties the citizens to exercise patience and refrain from sharing unverified elections results as vote counting continues.<\/p>\n<p>According to IEC, 15.9 million citizens took part in the local government elections.<\/p>\n<p>The IEC has received over 800 complaints as of Wednesday, of which majority of the complaints relate to the conduct of the voting stations staff and party agents.<\/p>\n<p>IEC Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Masego Shiburi says, \u201cThe majority of those complaints have been closed and determined.
