President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) Dr Sidi Ould Tah, and President of the Development Bank of the Central African States (BDEAC), Dieudonné Evou Mekou, have signed a letter of intent to strengthen cooperation in support of the region’s economies.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group concluded five days of Annual Meetings in Brazzaville on May 29, 2026, with the Board of Governors strongly endorsing President Dr Sidi Ould Tah’s mandate to implement the Bank’s Four Cardinal Points strategic vision.

South Africa (SA) is drawing up new economic blueprints as the country seeks to expand trade and investment within the enlarged Brazil, Russia, India, China, and SA (BRICS)-Plus framework, following the conclusion of the first in a series of structured consultative dialogues by the SA Chapter of the BRICS Business Council.

The Heads of the International Energy Agency, International Monetary Fund, World Bank Group and World Trade Organisation met on May 28 as part of a high-level coordination group established in April to maximise institutional responses to the energy, trade and economic effects of the war in the Middle East.
