South Africa’s ANC maintains that President Zuma defied neither the constitution nor the Public Protector

Date: Feb 9, 2016

South Africa's ruling ANC maintains that President Jacob Zuma defied neither the constitution nor the Public Protector.

The EFF and the DA are asking the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg to clarify the powers of the Public Protector Thuli Madonsela.

The case relates to Madonsela's recommendation that President Zuma should pay a portion of the money spent on non-security features at his private residence in Nkandla.

The governing party says it is following all the legal augments in court. Party deputy secretary-general, Jessie Duarte, says they are concerned about what she terms people who are politicising the case.
