Nigeria is working towards the permanent repatriation of its willing citizens from South Africa, to their home country following protests against illegal immigrants. The Nigerian Citizens Association in South Africa's leader Frank Onyekwelu says out of frustration several ...Nigerians have closed their businesses, and are now willing to return home.

Unemployment has been part of the problem, with many young South Africans accusing immigrants of taking over their jobs. The country has one of Nigeria's largest diaspora populations, with thousands of documented and undocumented immigrants.

The Independent Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) says it will double-up its efforts to get eligible voters to register for the upcoming local government elections. President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on Thursday that the polls will be held on the 4th of November.

... The Electoral Commission says it is critical that people register and do so in the ward of the voting district where they live. There is no provision in the polls to vote anywhere else. Deputy Chief Electoral Officer Masego Sheburi says the IEC will launch its election campaign later this month.
