The Regional Court in Ku-Gompo City in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa is currently hearing an urgent application by Leader of Economic Freedom Fighters party Julius Malema for leave to appeal his sentence.

Malema has been sentenced to five years direct ...imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm and two years for possession of ammunition, with the sentences meant to run concurrently.

Leader of South Africa's Economic Freedom Fighters Julius Malema has been sentenced to a total of five years imprisonment in his firearm case.

It relates to an incident in which he discharged a firearm during the EFF's fifth anniversary celebrations in Mdantsane ...in the Eastern Cape province in 2018.

The judgment was delivered by Magistrate Twanet Olivier who is presiding over the Magistrates court in KuGompo city.

A father and son as well as a suspected facilitator have been arrested for attempting to cross into Zimbabwe across South Africa's Limpopo river with the intention of going Europe.

Stellio and Khonsou Chichi as well as Francois van der Merwe appeared briefly in the ...Brooklyn Magistrate's Court *yesterday and their case was postponed to Monday next week.

The Hawks provincial spokesperson Katlego Mogale says preliminary investigations have revealed that the father is a fugitive who is wanted in France and Benin for crimes against the state.
