Several events have been planned to commemorate the historic milestone in South Africa's history.
The unveiling of this year's programme took place at the iconic Hector Pieterson Memorial in Orlando West, Soweto, last night.
One of the surviving leaders of the uprisings, Dr Seth Mazibuko joins @unathibf to discuss this further.

[ON AIR] Amnesty International has called on the Nigerian authorities to investigate allegations that at least 150 people, most of them children died in an army-run camp in north-central Kwara State.
According to the organisation, the victims were among roughly 1,500 members of the Fulani... community who had been relocated to a camp in Yikpata after facing increasing attacks by armed groups.
However, the Nigerian military has rejected the claims, stating that there is no verifiable evidence to substantiate the reported deaths.
