[ON AIR] Benin's Finance Minister, Romuald Wadagni, has secured a decisive victory in the presidential election, winning more than 94% of the vote, according to preliminary results from the electoral commission.

With 90% of ballots counted, officials say the outcome is now ...irreversible.

The 49-year-old was widely seen as the frontrunner, particularly after the main opposition party, the Democrats, failed to field a candidate.

This left Paul Hounkpè as the only challenger; he conceded defeat on Monday while the vote count was still ongoing.

[ON AIR] As tensions persist in the Middle East, reports have emerged that a vessel flagged in Botswana was recently turned away from the Strait of Hormuz by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), amid heightened maritime security operations in the region.

The incident has ...drawn renewed attention to Botswana's foreign policy positioning and its broader diplomatic and security relations with Washington.

It has also coincided with unverified reports and speculation alleging that Botswana may have permitted the establishment of a U.S. military facility on its territory, claims that the government has firmly denied.
