The search for survivors continues in Nepal nearly two weeks after devastating flash floods swept through communities in the north of the country. Rescuers are working in extremely difficult conditions, with roads and bridges destroyed and some communities cut off. Amid the devastation, there have also been extraordinary moments of hope, including the rescue of four people who survived after being trapped for days. The Nepal Red Cross Society, supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), is providing emergency assistance to communities affected by the disaster. We speak to Fleur Verwer, IFRC Communications Coordinator for the Nepal emergency, from Kathmandu, about the ongoing search-and-rescue efforts, the humanitarian response and the challenges facing affected communities. For a decade, Actor Spaces has been creating opportunities, developing talent and ensuring African actors are seen, celebrated and remembered.
