Oxfam is calling for a stronger and more accountable United Nations as the organisation prepares for its next Secretary-General. A new report, Voices from the Frontlines: Messages for the Next UN Secretary-General, brings together testimonies from civil society leaders working in conflict-affected countries, including the DRC, South Sudan, Ukraine, Ethiopia, Yemen and the occupied Palestinian territory. The report argues that communities living through conflict are too often excluded from decisions about their own protection and humanitarian needs. It calls for greater community representation, stronger action against aggressors, accountability for violations, more flexible funding and greater attention to the political and economic causes of conflict.
